How it started
Cafezin grew out of a personal frustration. Pedro Martinez, a Brazilian software developer, kept switching between AI chat tools, note apps, and document editors every time he sat down to write. The constant context-switching was getting in the way of the work itself.
The idea was simple: build a single workspace that brings structured writing, an AI assistant, and a visual canvas under the same roof — and keep all files local, where they belong. No cloud lock-in, no subscription that quietly owns your data.
The first version was used by friends. Then by colleagues. Then by people those colleagues recommended it to. The tool improved with every conversation, and that feedback loop is still how Cafezin grows today.
Who it's for
Cafezin is built for professionals who use writing as a core part of their work — writers, educators, students, researchers, and analysts. People who draft, revise, outline, and think in text every day, and who want AI to help without taking over.
It's designed to fit the workflow you already have, not to replace it with a new one.
How it works
Bring your own AI key
Cafezin is model-agnostic. It works with any OpenAI-compatible API — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, local models via Ollama, or anything else that speaks the same protocol. You connect your own key directly. Cafezin never sees your usage, never marks it up, and never proxies your requests. Your key, your cost, your control.
Your data stays on your machine
Files are stored locally. API keys are kept in your device's local storage, separate from everything else, and are never transmitted to Cafezin servers. That is the entire point of local-first.
Simple, honest pricing
The core product is free. Basic, Standard, and Pro unlock the paid AI workflows. What you pay for is clear, and the difference between tiers is mostly how much managed AI usage is included. What's free stays free.
What comes next
The roadmap is genuinely open. Cafezin is actively evolving, and the people using it today have the most influence over what gets built next. iOS and Android support are in progress. Improvements to the editor, the canvas, and the AI workflows ship with every release.
